Cement Manufacturing

Originally 2000 tons per day (clinker) based on dry process technology plant was set up by State Cement Corporation in 1986. After takeover by Nishat, the focus of the management had not only been on increasing capacity but also on enhancing and maintaining the product quality, perceive bythe stakeholders, as well as utilization level of the plant.

With an indelible commitment to employ the most modern technology, to meet increasing demand and to capitalize on its geographic location the company had undergone optimization in clinker production capacity alongwith addition of new production lines as per detail given in following table:

POWER GENERATION


DG Khan Site

In order to ensure continuous and smooth operations of the plant, uninterrupted power supply is very crucial. Keeping in view availability of energy resources in the country, the management had a vision to have its own captive power generating units. On moving toward company's vision, management achieved its milestone and a company named DG Electric Company was formed in 1994 with a capacity of producing 23.84 MW ( four generators of M/s Niigata of Japan). This Company was subsequently merged with DGKCC.

Company have been achieving great appreciation in its products by customers since its acquisition by NISHAT, as well as in order to stay in competitive line, company's available power resources that were provided by WAPDA were not sufficient. This motivated the management to take initiate towards having its own power resources in addition to WAPDA. Company has 20.8 MW power capacity by its WAPDA resource. By identifying the Company's increasing requirement of power utilization, company increased its power generation capacity at DG Khan Site by 25.5 MW in order to coup its power needs in 2006.


Khairpur Site

By moving toward the direction of achieving its vision, management of DGKCC made a strategic decision toward enhancing its power generation capabilities with intention to lowering dependency on WAPDA power supply. In this view, DGKCC installed duel fuel (Gas and Fuel Oil) power generation plant in September 2007 having total power generation capacity of 33 MW. In addition to company's own power generation capacity, WAPDA resource capacity of total 36 MW is also in use, from time to time, for making uninterrupted flow of operations
